A)General information about Aamlaki
AAMLAKI (Emblica officinalis Gaertn. Or Phyllanthus Emblica Linn.) is a beautiful tree that belongs to EUPHORBIACEAE family. 
Leaves have pinnate resemblance, very tiny, simple and attached by the base to branchlets. Color of flowers are yellowish. This tree contains hard, smooth and spherical fruit yellowish green in color with six vertical stripes. It is a native plant of India. It is easily grow in semi-arid areas and northern plain of India. Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh. In today's time it is also grows in Southern Asia, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Pakistan.

Some common synonyms of aamlaki are VAYA STHAPANA(it means that Amla is helpful to maintain youthfulness), DHATRI, AMRITA, AMRITPHALA (reduces the fear of akaalmrityu).

Aacharya Shusrut:-Triphala,Parushakadi, Adhobhaghara.

In GRAHNI, ATISAR, PRAVAHIKA and  ARSHA(according to Charak samhita) and in ARSHA ( according to Shusrut samhita) therapeutic uses of aamlaki are found.

D)Intake recipes
 CHURNA
1) Take some fresh fruits and wash them with water properly.

2) Cut down the fruits into small pieces and remove their seeds.

3) Dry up the fruit pieces under the sunlight.

4) After the proper drying of all pieces, add them all into a grinder(mixture) and makes its powder.

5) Sieve the powder through a clean cotton cloth to get a fine powder.

6) Aamlaki powder is ready.

• SWARASA
1) Take some fresh fruits and wash them with water properly.

2) Cut down the fruits into small pieces and remove their seeds.

3) Add the fruit pieces with little amount of water into a juicer.

4) Make its juice and sieve it properly.

5) Collect the fresh juice in a glass.

6) Aamlaki swarasa is ready.

E)Doses
Churna :- 3-5 gm
Swarasa :- 40 ml

F)Indications
Swarasa :- Fever, Arsha(piles) , Hiccups, Vaginal burning, Acidity, Vomiting, Digestive problems, Gout, Haemorrhagic blood disorders.

Churna :- Diabetes, Leukaemia.

Kwath :- Wounds, Fever.

Kalka :- Leprosy , Headache.

G)Contra-indications
1) Hypotension
2) Pregnancy
3) Breast feeding women
4) Bleeding disorders
5) Surgery
6) Allergic to amla

H) Side-effects
Anything if taken in excess, or without knowing about its properties it can do a lot more harm than good. Some common side effects are :-

1) Hyperacidity
2) Constipation ( if overdosed)
3) Reduces blood sugar level ( if overdosed)
4) Cold
5) Sore throat
6) heart aliments (if overdosed)
