A) General information about ARJUNA
Arjuna (Terminalia arjuna) a best drug for heart which belongs to Combretaceae family. It is a tree of height about 60-70 foot with red coloured bark from inside and shiny white from outside(due to the white colour of it's bark, it's another name is DHAWAL). Leaves are oval in shape and two nodes are present at the base of leaf on the dorsal side. Fruits of arjuna are star shaped and grow in bunches.
The therapeutic qualities are mainly present in its bark.
NADISURG an another name of arjuna, as it mainly grows near the bank of the rivers.
It is native to India but also found in Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Myanmar and some other Asian Countries.

D) Intake recipes
• KWATH
1) Take some pieces of arjuna twak(bark) and wash them with water properly.
2) Chop the bark into small pieces.
3) Put them into a imam dusta( mortar pestle) and crush them.
4) Take the crushed barks with suitable amount of water in a pan.
5) Boil it on a low flame.
6) Reduce to 1/2 or 1/4th of total initial amount.
7) Let it cool.
8) Seive out into a glass.
9) Arjuna twak kwath is ready.
With the help of similar process kwath of its leaves can also be prepared and it can be used to treat some diseases.
• CHURNA
1) Take some pieces of arjuna twak(bark) clean them properly.
2) Chop them into small pieces or directly add them into a grinder.
3) Grind them properly to get a powder.
4) Take a clean cotton cloth.
5) Seive the powder through a cotton cloth and collect it in a plate.
6) Arjuna twak churna is ready.
• SWARASA
1) Take some fresh leaves and wash them with water properly.
2) Put these clean leaves over silbatta (grindstones) and add some drops of water and make a fine paste.
3) Take a clean cotton cloth.
4) Place the paste of arjuna leaves in the cotton cloth and squeeze them carefully.
5) Collect the squeezed liquid in a glass.
6) Arjuna Patra swarasa is ready.
E) Doses
• Twak churna (bark powder) - 1-2 gm
• Twak kwath(bark decoction) - 10-20 ml
F) Indications
KWATH - Diabetes, Leprosy, Obesity, Urinary tract infections.
CHURNA - Heart related problems
SWARASA - Piles, wounds
